Golf Sluispolder

Sluispolder: 1 golf course, 18 holes. Behind the dunes, between Bergen and Alkmaar, lies this beautiful 18-hole course. An interesting course, richly equipped with bunkers and water features, which provide an extra handicap at many holes. Due to the location of the course, close to the coast, the almost always present wind is also a determining factor in the game. The interplay of these elements ensures that the course, with its spacious greens and wide fairways, remains a challenge for the experienced player.

In 1982 the construction of the first 9 holes started. Under the direction of the famous golf course architect Joan Dudok van Heel, holes 10 to 18 were opened in 1983. The holes may look easy at first, but the start with a long par 3 and the (optical) narrowings on these holes can sometimes be a bit tricky. The last hole is a beautiful hole to finish with. It is an interesting dogleg, where the second shot has to be hit over a water feature to end up on a split-level green right in front of the terrace.

Holes 1 to 9 were built in 1991 under the direction of golf course architect Alan Rijks. These holes are located on slightly hilly terrain, the undulating foothills of the old dune landscape. This dune layer has been pushed up locally in the middle of the clay polder, which makes it very interesting from a landscape perspective. Here, the often strong southwest wind sometimes plays a partner, sometimes a striking opponent.

On both track loops there are beautiful views of a real North Holland landscape, grazing cows, the mighty Schoorl dunes in the distance and rotating windmills. Besides your golf game, don’t forget to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. If you want to work on your short game, the 9-hole par 3 course is the place to be. This short but challenging Alan Rijks course requires precision for the advanced player. An excellent way to practice the short game, but offers beginners a pleasant introduction to golf.
