A unique wooded area
The dunes and forests of North Holland also offer a unique diversity of flora and fauna. For example, the Bergerbos is located against the edge of the dunes. This is one of the oldest forests in the Alkmaar area. The forest is not very impressive in terms of size, but has a character that cannot be compared to any other forest area in the Netherlands.
For beautiful old deciduous trees with thick trunks, you can visit the forrest of Heiloo. The walking routes here lead you over the most beautiful unpaved paths. Here you will find, among other things, a pine forest, a lake with a birdwatching hut and an extensive oak forest.
